Posting career-highs — twice — has earned Emma Parker the Birchwood Automotive Group female athlete of the week honour.
Parker, a third-year left side with the Wesmen women's volleyball team, paced the Wesmen offence two nights in a row. The team leader in kills, Parker hit the 20-kills mark for the first time in her career on Friday with a career-high 21 and then matched that number again Saturday as the Wesmen beat the Calgary Dinos to keep their playoff hopes alive.
On Friday, she registered her ninth double-double and fifth straight with 12 digs in a four-set loss. She hit .275 on a team-high 51 swings and scored a team-high 22 points.
On Saturday, Parker matched her career-best with 21 kills once again on a team-high 59 swings with just five errors. She hit .271 and scored a team-high 22.5 points.
For the weekend, Parker averaged 21 kills, 10.5 digs and hit .273.
The Wesmen are on the road at Mount Royal Friday and Saturday. One win or one UBC-Okanagan loss at Calgary will secure them the conference's last post-season berth.
