Antoinette Miller (women’s basketball): The reigning Canada West MVP and defensive player of the year had another stat-stuffing week to lead the Wesmen women’s team to a pair of wins over the MacEwan Griffins last weekend in Winnipeg.

 

Miller, the fifth-year senior from Phoenix, Ariz., averaged 24 points over the two-game series, including a 32-point effort that went along with nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a 62-54 victory Friday night. She was 12 of 18 from the field that night and backed it up with 16 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a 68-56 Saturday night win.

 

Miller leads the country – and is far and away the Canada West’s top scorer – averaging 25.6 points per game. She leads the Canada West, and is fifth in USports, in three-point shooting at 48.4 per cent; is second in Canada West (fourth in USports) at 4.9 assists per game and second in the conference and nation in steals per game at 3.8.

 

Also receiving consideration this week was Miller’s teammate Faith Hezekiah, and Emma Parker of women’s volleyball.
