The Winnipeg Wesmen men's curling team is off to nationals for the first time in three years.

The Wesmen rink of Robert Gordon, Ty Dilello, Kyle Doering and J.T. Ryan qualified for the national tournament next month in Leduc, Alta., after sweeping through the five-team draw with a perfect 4-0 record.

The Wesmen earned an 11-2 win over Brandon and an 8-6 victory over Regina on Day 1, and followed that up with victories of 8-3 over Alberta and 11-3 over Lethbridge on Saturday.

It is the first time a Wesmen rink has qualified for nationals since the 2015 tournament in Waterloo, Ont. That year a team featuring Gordon, Dilello and Doering fell in the semifinal to eventual champion Alberta and finished third.

On the women's side, the Wesmen narrowly missed out on a berth to nationals after dropping a must-win match-up with Regina, 7-2.

Nationals are slated for March 24-18.
