More details announced for fan experience at soccer home-openers

Winnipeg Wesmen Athletics has announced further details for Wesmen soccer matches this season, including transportation and pre-game experiences.

As previously announced, the King's Head Pub has signed on to be the official pub of the Winnipeg Wesmen, and will open its doors as the Official Pre-Game Home of Wesmen Soccer.

All U of W students can attend Wesmen games free of charge, and now students will get even more with their post-secondary status. The Wesmen have announced that on selective game days, starting with the season-openers Sept. 14 and 15, a game-day protocol will be established to transport students and supporters from campus to the matches.

SEPT. 14 vs Fraser Valley, 7 p.m. and SEPT. 15 vs Trinity Western, 7 p.m.

  • 4:30 p.m.: Buses will arrive and begin loading outside Duckworth Centre for transportation to the King's Head.
  • 5 p.m.: Arrival at King's Head with free appetizers served to those identifying as Wesmen Supporters.
  • 6:15 p.m.: Buses will begin loading at King's Head.
  • 6:30 p.m.: Buses depart King's Head toward Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
  • 7 p.m.: Kickoff at Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex
  • 9 p.m.: Buses begin loading from Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex to return to King's Head.

On their return, the busses will make a stop at King's Head after the match to drop off anyone who wants to patronize the establishment, and will also make a final stop after that back at the Duckworth Centre.

All fans in attendance are asked to WEAR RED to all Wesmen games throughout the 2018-19 sport seasons.
