VANCOUVER — The Winnipeg Wesmen are bound for B.C. one more time after closing out their conference season Saturday.

Billy Yaworsky had 15 points and five rebounds off the bench as the Wesmen men's basketball team dropped a 91-66 decision to the UBC Thunderbirds in the Canada West conference finale at War Memorial Gymnasium. 

The result dropped Winnipeg's record to 10-10 on the season and set the Wesmen up with a one-game first-round playoff on Friday in Abbotsford, B.C. against the Fraser Valley Cascades. 

It is the eighth straight season in the playoffs for the Wesmen and the eighth straight season with at least a .500 record in conference play.

Narcisse Ambanza had 14 points for the Wesmen, who were down 40-24 at the half.

Jadon Cohee dropped a game-high 26 points for UBC (16-4). Grant Shephard and Jack Cruz-Dumont both had 12 and Grant Audu added 11.
