A former newspaper reporter of more than 20 years, David joined the Wesmen staff in December of 2017 as the media and operations coordinator.
A graduate of Kelvin High School and Brock University, David began his work in newspapers first as a student reporter at The Brock Press in 1995, working there throughout his undergraduate degree, acting as assistant sports editor, sports editor, and eventually managing editor. While managing editor, the Press won a best-in-show award for weekly tabloids at the 1999 Associated Collegiate Press convention in Atlanta.
David's first daily newspaper gig was a freelance sports reporter for the St. Catharines Standard and later as a sports staffer at the Niagara Falls Review.
From 2003 to 2011, David was a university and baseball beat reporter for the Brandon Sun largely tasked with covering the Brandon University Bobcats, which included coverage from both basketball and volleyball national championship tournaments. In 2011, he was named the Canada West conference's winner of the Fred 'Gus' Collins Award for contributions to coverage of university sport.
David spent 2011 to 2017 with the Winnipeg Sun holding a variety of roles: as a copy editor, city editor, online editor and general beat reporter. During that time, he also freelanced for Canadian Press covering the Winnipeg Jets.
His written work has appeared in such outlets as the Globe and Mail, ESPN.com, TSN.ca, Slam! Magazine and the Miami Herald.
