A double dip of double-digit digs has earned Taylor Cangemi the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Wesmen female athlete of the week award.
Cangemi, a third-year libero on the Wesmen women's volleyball team, compiled her highest digs total for a weekend this season with back-to-back double-digit efforts in a weekend sweep at Saskatchewan.
Friday night in a five-set win, Cangemi had a season-high 18 digs as the Wesmen hung on to upset the Huskies. The next night, Cangemi added 15 more as the Wesmen dominated in a four-set win, running their win streak to four straight going into the holiday break.Â
Cangemi's 32 digs matched the second-highest total of her career for a weekend series. In her three seasons, Cangemi has averaged 3.88 digs per set in eight career matches against the Huskies, the highest total for her against any team in the Canada West (minimum four matches played).Â
