The Winnipeg Wesmen opened the 2015-2016 regular season with a 87-67 loss to the Calgary Dinos Friday night in Calgary.

Thomas Cooper led Calgary with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Lars Schleuter added 12 points. Along with Schlueter and Cooper, three other Dinos hit double digits, including David Kapinga with 12, as well as Jhony Verrone and Dallas Karch scoring 10 each.

The Wesmen were led in scoring by forward Jamar Farley with 20, while post Ryan Oirbans added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jelane Pryce was held to 10 points.

Calgary also took advantage of Winnipeg's 22 turnovers, scoring 20 points off of them.

The Dinos went into the halftime break with a 45-28 lead. Calgary came out of the break and outscored Winnipeg 22-16 in the third quarter to carry a 67-44 lead into the final quarter.

The Dinos and Wesmen will meet in game two of their series at 8 p.m. at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium Saturday night in Calgary.
