Box Score The University of Manitoba Bisons ended a five game losing skid, defeating the visiting University of Winnipeg Wesmen 91-60 Thursday evening at the University of Manitoba.
Keith Omoerah led Manitoba with a double-double consisting of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Ilarion Bonhomme finished with 14 points.
Narcisse Ambanza led the Wesmen with 17 points. Ryan Oirbans had a double-double of his own finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Manitoba took an early lead in a low scoring opening quarter by a 14-9 margin. Winnipeg found their offensive touch in the second quarter outscoring Manitoba 22-21 to go into the halftime break trailing 35-31.
The second half was all Manitoba as they put up 56 points in the final 20 minutes and held the Wesmen to only 29 second half points to close out the 91-60 victory.
Manitoba finished the game connecting on 50% of their shots from the field. Winnipeg, who have been deadly from three-point territory struggled draining 4-of-22 from outside.
Manitoba improves to 3-6 with the win. Winnipeg with the loss falls back to 6-3 in the Canada West Men's Basketball standings.
The two teams will take part in the basketball portion of the 26th Annual Duckworth Challenge Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium.
