Box Score University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women's Volleyball head coach Diane Scott has added another piece to her roster for next season. Scott announced today that Emma Parker (St. Norbert, Manitoba) has committed to joining the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women's Volleyball program for the start of the 2017-2018 Canada West season in September.
Parker has recently completed her final season as a member of the St. Norbert Collegiate Celtics Varsity Girls' Volleyball team, finishing third at Provincials, which garnered her a Tournament All-Star. She was a member of the Manitoba Provincial team and was named a Volleyball Manitoba Graduating All Star. Parker was also a member of the Alliance U17 Club Team that won a bronze medal at the Provincial Championships last April.
Emma is not the only member of her family to play for the Wesmen. Her father Will played for the Wesmen Men's Basketball team from 1982-1987. Her mother Ardith (Lernout) starred for the Wesmen Women's Volleyball program in the 1980's and was a team mate of Diane Scott.
As a student at St. Norbert Collegiate she will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for both the annual awards night and this summer's Graduation Ceremony.
Parker has an interest in Science and Education.
"We are so pleased to have Emma join our Women's Volleyball program. She is an outstanding athlete on all levels: speed, jump, agility, game sense and composure. She has tons of upside still to develop and is already keen to get started. An awesome human, her personality is contagious and she is an exceptional team mate. Her skills and athleticism come naturally as both her mom and dad competed here at the U of W. So it's even more exciting to have Emma continue the tradition", added Diane Scott, head coach Winnipeg Wesmen Women's Volleyball program.
