It didn't come quite as easily as the night before, but the result was the same and the Wesmen men's basketball team extended its win streak to boot.

One night after putting up a program record for points in a conference game, the Wesmen men's basketball team was on the grind Saturday, churning out an 85-78 win over the MacEwan Griffins in Edmonton.

Narcisse Ambanza posted his second straight double-double with a season-high 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wesmen, who moved to 4-2 on the season.

Spas Nikolov posted a pair of career-highs, notching 17 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. William Sesay added 10 rebounds, as well, as the Wesmen won the battle on the glass 53-36.

Joseph Medrano was the other Wesmen player in double figures, scoring 14.

The Wesmen put up 113 points in a win Friday and took a 21-12 lead after a quarter, but the Griffins weren't letting it go that easily, outscoring the Wesmen by eight in the second quarter to trim the U of W edge to 38-37 heading into halftime.

Jake Notice led the Griffins (0-6) with 25 points, while Abdullah Shittu had 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds off the bench. Deonte Doslov-Doctor added 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Wesmen did themselves no favours from the floor, shooting 33 per cent from the field and 6-for-28 from three, including 0 of 8 in the first quarter.

The Wesmen return home for a pair of games against the Saskatchewan Huskies Friday and Saturday night.
