Box Score Austin Anderson made his first career start and got his first career kill Friday as the Winnipeg Wesmen men's volleyball team dropped a tight three-set decision on the road.
Anderson, a first-year left side from Niverville, had six kills on nine swings with just two errors, but the Wesmen fell 3-0 (26-24, 32-30, 29-27) to the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack in Kamloops, B.C.
Anderson led all outside hitters on the night with a .444 attack percentage as he filled in for regular starter Ethan Duncan. Anderson also had two aces.
Adrian Dyck led the Wesmen (2-3) with 13 kills and Daniel Thiessen chipped in 11. Thiessen and libero Darian Picklyk both had a match-high nine digs.
Middle blocker Garrett Jones committed just one attack error and notched seven kills on 11 swings (.545) and posted three block assists for Winnipeg.
Tim Dobbert had a match-high 19 to pace TRU (4-1), which also got 13 from Charlie Bringloe.
"Austin Anderson came out and did a great job tonight doing things we weren't expecting," TRU head coach Pat Hennelly said.
Winnipeg hit .255 for the match, while TRU went out at .316 for the night.
