Box Score The Winnipeg Wesmen are returning home and will look to snap a season-long losing streak after a nailbiting loss Saturday in Kamloops, B.C.
The Wesmen men's volleyball team had a 2-1 edge in sets, but couldn't close things out in dropping a 3-2 (25-20, 16-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13) decision to the No. 9-ranked Thompson Rivers Wolfpack, the squad's fourth straight loss.
Now the Wesmen will return home for a pair of games against the No. 3-ranked Mount Royal Cougars, which will mark Winnipeg's third straight weekend facing a top-10 opponent.
On Saturday, Daniel Thiessen had 14 kills and a team-high nine digs to lead the Wesmen (2-4), while Adrian Dyck added 11 kills and five aces.
"I thought our effort tonight was as equally good as last night. We played pretty well. It was a good match and the better team won," Wesmen head coach Larry McKay said.
TRU (5-1) got a match-high 18 kills from Tim Dobbert and another 10 from Charlie Bringloe.
The Wesmen will host the Cougars on Friday at 6:45 p.m., with a Saturday first serve set for 5 p.m.
