Some struggles shooting the ball put the Winnipeg Wesmen behind the 8-ball Friday in a loss to the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves.

The Wesmen shot 28 of 78 from the field, while the Timberwolves hit on 50 per cent of their shots from the field, including 9-18 from the three-point line, as Winnipeg dropped a 75-68 decision at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre in Prince George, B.C.

The Wesmen, who came into the game having made just two of 28 three-pointers in their first two games, got four threes from Boulanger and went 8-for-29 from behind the arc. 

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, hit their first three three-pointers of the game and opened a 25-16 lead after a quarter. That lead stretched to 40-28 at the half.

After a Vasiliki Louka pushed UNBC's lead to a game-high 20, the Wesmen managed a 10-0 run in the fourth to put a dent in the advantage. 

Faith Hezekiah, who came into the game leading the conference in scoring, had 13 points and eight rebounds. Jessica Dyck had 11 points, and Farrah Castillo had 10 to go along with six rebounds and six assists. Freshman Deborah Nkiasi gave the Wesmen good minutes off the bench with eight points and five rebounds in 16 minutes. 

"Hopefully we can get that rhythm we showed in the fourth quarter going tomorrow in the first and come out stronger," Dyck said.

Winnipeg fell to 0-3 on the season, while UNBC improved to 3-0.
