Wesmen rebound for win at UNBC

Box Score

The Winnipeg Wesmen put up 62 second-half points to win going away Saturday, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

One night after seeing a second-half rally fall short, the Wesmen men's basketball team put the game away in the final 20 minutes in a 96-81 win over the Northern British Columbia Timberwolves in Prince George, B.C.

Narcisse Ambanza had 27 points and seven rebounds to lead the Wesmen (2-2), who also got 22 points off the bench from sophomore guard Don Dayrit

"It felt really great to have a strong second half," Dayrit said. "I didn't have the best of nights yesterday, so to come out and hit my shots tonight felt great. My teammates were finding me, and it was going in."

It was the second time this season the Wesmen have scored 90 points or more and the second time they've won when scoring at least 90.

After scoring two points on Friday, Sean Tarver bounced back with a solid 18 points and eight rebounds for the Wesmen, who are on the road again next weekend at MacEwan.

Vaggelis Loukas topped UNBC (3-1) with 18 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Jovan Leamy, who had 34 on Friday, was held to 13 on 6-for-12 shooting. James Agyeman had 11 points and Saje Gosal 10 off the bench.
