Wesmen can't find solution for top-ranked Bobcats

Box Score

DAVID LARKINS, Wesmen Athletics

Two Winnipeg players hit double digits for kills, but the Wesmen men's volleyball team fell in straight sets Saturday against Brandon.

Ethan Duncan had 11 kills on 22 swings and Adrian Dyck added 10 plus six digs as Winnipeg dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-23) decision in Brandon to the No. 1-ranked Bobcats.

Duncan hit a team-high .409 for the night, his second highest percentage this season and the third time overall he's hit at least .400 this season.

Libero Darian Picklyk had a match-high 11 digs for Winnipeg, which is now 5-11 on the season with four matches to play. The Wesmen are four points back of eighth-place UBC for the final playoff spot and hold two matches in hand on the T-Birds.

Winnipeg hit .273 on the night, but the Bobcats continued their dominance in the conference, winning their 12th straight match to improve to 16-2. During their win streak, the Bobcats have dropped only one set.

Seth Friesen and Elliot Viles both had 13 kills to lead Brandon, which hit .330 on the match.

The Wesmen will have a home-and-home with Manitoba (7-11) this week and then a road trip to Vancouver to take on the Thunderbirds before returning home for a pair against Alberta to close the conference season.
