The Winnipeg Wesmen scored their biggest upset of the Canada West season and continued to make a push into the playoff picture.

Faith Hezekiah had 33 points and 10 rebounds and the Wesmen women's basketball team upset the Trinity Western Spartans 70-60 Saturday night in Langley, B.C.

Hezekiah posted her eighth double-double and fourth straight in conference play as the Wesmen won for the fourth time in the past six conference games.

As a result, Winnipeg improved to 5-9 on the season and pulled into a three-way tie for 12th place in the Canada West. The top 12 teams in the conference make the post-season. 

Farrah Castillo had 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Wesmen, who sent Trinity to its fourth loss in 12 games. The Spartans are in sixth in the conference. Robyn Boulanger had 11 points off the bench, hitting 3 of 4 from the three-point line. 

The Wesmen shot just 39.4 per cent from the field, but hit on five of 14 threes and made all 13 of their free throws. 

Winnipeg held Trinity to 37.3 per cent shooting and 6-for-20 from behind the arc. 

Tessa Ratzlaff had 19 points to lead the Spartans, who also got 16 from Jessie Brown and 10 from Sarah Buckingham.

The Spartans have now lost four of their last six and the Wesmen held them to their lowest combined scoring output for a weekend this season. 

The Wesmen are back home this weekend to take on the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack.
