WBB | Cougars get ahead early to take down Wesmen

Box Score

REGINA — Dressing just eight players due to injury, the Winnipeg Wesmen weren't able to generate enough offence on a difficult road trip.

The Wesmen women's basketball team was outscored 49-26 in the first half and went on to drop its fourth straight game Saturday, losing 84-51 to the Regina Cougars in a Canada West conference game.

Robyn Boulanger had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Wesmen (2-4) and Anna Kernaghan added 10. The Wesmen shot 24.1 per cent from the field and 5-for-29 from three.

Winnipeg again played without Faith Hezekiah, Jessica Dyck, Srishti Suren and Vanessa Millions

Michaela Kleisinger had her second straight triple-double for the Cougars, dropping 17 points with 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Alexi Rowden had 15 points off the bench and Emily Dewey chipped in 14.

The Cougars shot 39.1 per cent from the field and 7-for-26 from three.

The Wesmen now look to a home-and-home series with the Manitoba Bisons Thursday at U of M and Saturday at the Duckworth Centre.
