Box Score EDMONTON — Narcisse Ambanza had a team-high 23 points but the Wesmen men's basketball team fell short on the road Saturday night.
Ambanza added four rebounds, a block and an assist in the Wesmen men's basketball team's 68-65 loss to the Alberta Golden Bears.
Ambanza and Adam Benrabah both had looks at late threes with the Bears clinging to a three-point lead. With Alberta up 65-62 with under a minute to play, Ambanza's first three didn't drop and, after a Winnipeg offensive rebound, Benrabah appeared to be fouled on his three-point attempt but did not get a call. Cole Knudsen hit one of two free throws for the Bears on the other end and Ambanza's last-gasp three with two seconds left rimmed out.
Billy Yaworsky had 10 points and nine rebounds for Winnipeg (2-2).
The Wesmen were 5-for-31 from three and shot 37.9 per cent from the field. The Wesmen also shot 10-for-22 from the free-throw line.
