MVB | Wesmen stay surging with sweep at UBCO

KELOWNA, B.C. — The Winnipeg Wesmen are surging up the Canada West standings.

Daniel Thiessen had 12 kills and the Wesmen men's volleyball team hit .225 in making quick work of the UBC-Okanagan Heat Saturday, earning a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) Canada West conference victory.

The Wesmen moved to 8-6 on the season with their sixth straight victory ahead of a critical weekend clash at Saskatchewan starting Friday. 

Thiessen hit .231 and tied for the team-high with seven digs as the Wesmen moved into sole possession of fifth place in the conference, two points ahead of the Manitoba Bisons.

Darian Picklyk and Mikael Clegg also had seven digs apiece for Winnipeg, which hasn't lost since Nov. 16, 2019. 

Noah Campbell and Denham O'Reilly both had nine kills to lead the Heat, who hit .151 for the night. Max Heppell, the team's leading attacker, was held to zero kills on five swings with a -.400 efficiency. 

UBCO dropped to 0-12.
