WSOC | Wesmen end season with loss in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — The Winnipeg Wesmen closed their Canada West conference season out with a 6-1 loss to the Lethbridge Pronghorns Sunday afternoon.

Jazmyn Castro scored her third goal of the season for the Wesmen, who finished conference play with a 2-11-1 record. Castro's three goals marked the most goals scored by a Wesmen player since Shae-Lynn Dodds' program-record seven in 2019-20.

Castro redirected in a header from Karrisa Schneider off a cross from Madisyn Furber in the 36th minute that made it 2-1 at the time.

Hailey Slobodian scored four goals to lead the Pronghorns, while Troy Clements and Alexis Bradford also scored.

Madison Priebe stopped five shots in the Winnipeg goal while Erin Gill made 10 saves for the Horns.

The match was the final appearance in a Wesmen shirt for both Tia Lecox and Hasana Church, who are graduating. Lecox was a five-year Wesmen out of high school in Ottawa, while Church transferred from Brandon University during the 2020 COVID year.
