Liam Kristjanson had a career night Saturday, but the Winnipeg Wesmen weren't able to secure a weekend split.
Kristjanson had a career-high 21 kills to lead the Wesmen's volleyball team, which dropped a 3-1 (25-17. 25-20, 23-25, 25-17) Canada West conference contest to the host Thompson Rivers Wolfpack.
It was the team's fourth straight loss and dropped the Wesmen to 2-4 on the season heading into a bye week.
Freshman setter Tristan Arnold made his first career start and had 29 assists, a solo block and three block assists.
The Wesmen also got six kills, two blocks and three digs from
Paxton Koop, and seven kills and six digs from
Ben Traa.
Winnipeg hit .123 for the match, but was .310 in its victorious third set.
The bright spot for the Wesmen was a third-set rally in which they came back from 15-9 down with four straight points. After TRU pulled slightly ahead again, the Wesmen rallied off four straight again to tie the set at 17. With the set tied at 19, the Wesmen then proceeded to score four of the next five points to take control.
TRU, which hit .350, was led by Sam Flowerday's 21 kills.
