She did it again.
A day after setting the Winnipeg Wesmen record for saves in a game,
Madison Priebe matched it and helped the Wesmen women's soccer team pull off a quality 1-1 draw with the Alberta Pandas Sunday afternoon at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
Priebe made 17 saves in goal for Winnipeg (0-3-1), which earned its first point of the 2023 season, a day after making 17 saves in a 2-0 loss to MacEwan.
Priebe's 34 saves over the two matches marks a program record for saves in a weekend.
The Wesmen had the Pandas on the brink of an upset after
Emma Friesen scored her first goal of the season — and fourth of her career — when her shot carried over the head of Alberta keeper Autumn Wynn in the 62nd minute.
The Wesmen, however, couldn't hold the Pandas (1-1-2) off all day. In the 82nd minute, Emily Duxbury sprung Adrienne Poulin free with a long through-ball that put her one-on-one with Priebe. Poulin slid a low shot past Priebe and tied the match with her fourth goal of the season.
The Wesmen earned a point off Alberta for the second time since 2014, earning their second draw in the past eight matches.
Winnipeg hits the road to play Regina and Saskatchewan, Saturday and Sunday.
