The Wesmen set an inauspicious season-high Saturday night.
The Wesmen women's basketball team had one of its best offensive performances of the season, but allowed the Manitoba Bisons to score a season-high on the scoreboard in a 98-82 Canada West conference loss at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
Winnipeg's 82 points was a season-high in a loss this season and its 40.3 per cent from the field was its highest against an opponent other than Brandon this season.
Nevertheless, the loss sent the Wesmen to 5-13 on the season and greatly damaged their hopes of making the Canada West post-season. Starting the weekend in the No. 12 spot, Winnipeg's RPI dropped it to 13th heading into the final weekend of the season at Regina.
The Wesmen offence was flowing, topping the 80-point mark for the third time this season, although they went 2-for-18 from three after going 4-for-7 in the first quarter.
Raia Guinto had 13 of her team-high 19 points after halftime while
Anna Kernaghan scored 17 points with seven rebounds, seven assists, five steals and four blocks.
Jazmin Birch, who scored a career-high 17 on Thursday, followed up with 12 points and six rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.
The Bisons, who led by as many as 18, were able to get 53 rebounds to Winnipeg's 34, including 21 on the offensive glass. Emily Johnson had 18 rebounds with 18 points.
The 98 points were the most by the Bisons in a game since they scored 103 in a win over Mount Royal in November 2018.
Lauren Bartlett had 26 points and 11 assists for Manitoba (6-12). Anna Miko scored a career-high 22 and Emerson Martin scored 14.
