The Winnipeg Wesmen used a 16-0 fourth-quarter run to come from behind and defeat the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets in an exhibition game Tuesday afternoon at the Duckworth Centre.
Alberto Gordo scored 24 points to lift the Wesmen men's basketball team to a 63-51 win over the NCAA Division II squad to give the Wesmen a sweep of the two-game series.Â
The Wesmen trailed 51-45 with 6:38 to go in the fourth, but held the Jackets without a point the rest of the way, using six points from Gordo and five apiece from
Emmanuel Thomas and
Kato Jaro in the decisive finishing run.Â
The Wesmen trailed for 32:01 of the game — a near flip from Monday's win when they lead nearly wire-to-wire — but held BHSU to only 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Thomas had 15 points and made 3 of 4 from three, including a deep triple with 4:13 to go that gave the Wesmen the lead for good.Â
Jaro finished with nine points, four rebounds and four steals and played a career-high 34 minutes.Â
Joel Speckman led the Jackets with 12 points, and Tristan Hurdle chipped in with 11. Cam Lowe, a Division I transfer from Colorado State, scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.Â
