The Winnipeg Wesmen gave the visitors a scare, but the Manitoba Bisons of late haven't been shaken easily.
The Wesmen women's volleyball team held the Bisons to one of their lowest attacking nights of the Canada West season but could not pull off the upset, losing a 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-15) decision Thursday night at the Duckworth Centre.
The win for the Bisons was part of the annual Duckworth Challenge.Â
The Bisons were held to .201 hitting, including .116 in the second and .081 in the third. It was the second-worst attacking efficiency of the season for the Bisons, who are tops in the country in that category.Â
Still the Wesmen couldn't keep Manitoba from winning its 11th straight conference match.
The Wesmen were led by their Duckworth Challenge MVP
Megan Kendziora, who matched
Selva Planincic with a team-high 12 kills, but also added 10 digs while hitting .290 in her second start of the season. Kendziora's 12 kills set a new career-high for the second-year left side from Edmonton.Â
Taylor Cangemi had a team-high 18 digs and
Brooke Duncalfe added 15.
The Bisons got 23 kills from Raya Surinx and 21 digs from Julia Arnold. Setter Katreena Bentley was named the Bisons Duckworth MVP.Â
