After leading her team to a playoff-opening sweep,
Selva Planincic has been named the Canada West conference women's volleyball player of the week.
Planincic, a fifth-year left side, was the driving force behind Winnipeg's two-match sweep of the Calgary Dinos in a best-of-three play-in series last weekend at the Duckworth Centre.
In a five-set win on Thursday, Planincic tallied a career-high 23 kills and added 13 digs and three aces.
The following night, in a three-set sweep that finished the series, Planincic came through with a match-high 10 kills and 14 digs.
Planincic has recorded double-digit digs in four straight matches and she is on pace to set a new career-high (playoffs included) for kills in a season.
The Wesmen are moving on to the Canada West quarter-final round and will take on the Alberta Pandas in a best-of-three series that starts Thursday in Edmonton.
