CALGARY — At a tipping point in the Canada West season, the Winnipeg Wesmen have found a way to turn things in their favour.
The Wesmen men's volleyball team remained perfect for 2026 with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) dismantling of the Mount Royal Cougars Friday night on Kenyon Court.
The win was Winnipeg's third straight to start the new year and also its third straight sweep as the Wesmen (7-6) poked into the top five in the Canada West with the win. The Wesmen and Cougars entered the weekend with identical .500 records and the Wesmen took the upper hand as both teams try to remain in the top six that will earn a first-round bye in the conference post-season.
The Wesmen won their fourth straight against the Cougars, who hit .000 in the second set and were held to .194 for the night.
Winnipeg, meanwhile, attacked at .263 with middles
Paxton Koop and
Liam Allen combining for 13 kills on .454 hitting. Allen, making his third straight start, had eight kills and Koop five with no errors on eight swings.
Jaxon Rose led the way with 14 kills and eight digs.
Conor Rewniak and
Aidan Hruska matched with a match-high nine digs apiece for Winnipeg.
The Cougars were led by Isaac Karstad's seven kills, and Kai Toney had a team-high eight digs.
