A former semi-pro player herself, Amy Anderson became the second head coach in Wesmen women's soccer history when she was hired to lead the program in 2014.
Anderson took the job after working as an assistant in the program the year previous.
A Winnipeg native and alumna of the University of Winnipeg, Anderson has compiled a lengthy resume of coaching in a variety of programs throughout the province. Anderson has worked in the Manitoba provincial program as both a head coach and assistant coach. Prior to coming aboard at the U of W, Anderson was an assistant coach with the Manitoba Bisons.
Anderson also has devoted her time to instructing at the Portage Trails Soccer Academy and in the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association.
Anderson's playing resume is also one of note. She was a member of England's Bristol Rovers women's football club from 2001-2005 and also played overseas with the Forest Green Rovers, Gloucester County All-Star squad.
Anderson has also given back to her community with a variety of volunteer initiatives, including running soccer clinics with the Spence Neighbourhood Association, and with the YM-YWCA.
"For me coaching at the U Sports level is all about the program," Anderson said. "It's about improving the athletes every day and empowering them. It's about bringing out that intensity and drive in the players. Moreover, it's about recruiting players who are just as passionate about representing the program. I really see this job as a selfless profession, and I love the game so much. I am very proud to represent the school and community I grew up in."
