Wesmen struggle with swings in West Coast sweep

The Winnipeg Wesmen struggled to mount much of an attack and dropped a straight-sets decision to the UBC Thunderbirds Friday night. 

Emma Parker had a team-high six kills and six digs, but the Wesmen hit .038 for the night in falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-11) to the No. 10-ranked T-Birds in a Canada West women's volleyball conference match-up at War Memorial Gymnasium.

Ashleigh Laube had five kills on a team-high .263 attacking for the Wesmen, who fell to 4-17 on the season. Five Wesmen players hit below .000 as UBC produced 43 digs on the night.

Kiera Van Ryk had a match-high 16 kills and seven digs to lead the Thunderbirds, who also got 11 kills and 10 digs from Tessa Davis, who hit .556. 

UBC hit .366 for the match in moving to 14-7 on the season with its sixth straight win. The Thunderbirds clinched a playoff spot in the process.
