KELOWNA, B.C. — Don Dayrit gave the Winnipeg Wesmen another offensive boost on the way to a convincing win.

Dayrit scored 22 points and the Wesmen men's basketball team won going away Saturday, knocking off the UBC-Okanagan Heat 97-84 in a Canada West conference game that cinched another post-season berth for the program.

The Wesmen (8-8) will make their eighth straight appearance in the conference post-season. They have four games remaining in the Canada West season.

Dayrit scored in double figures for the seventh straight game and for the eighth time in the past nine games. He went 9-for-14 from the field and 4-for-7 from three.

The 97 points were a season-high for the Wesmen, who scored five players in double figures.

Donte Makazu had a career-high 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting off the bench, Narcisse Ambanza added 12 points, six rebounds and six assists, and Spas Nikolov and DJ Dixon both had 10 points.

"I was definitely happy that we started the game closer to how we finished it (Friday) with our intensity and effort," Wesmen coach Mike Raimbault said. "They did a good job of fighting to get back in the game after that but the start was better than (Friday) night."

Hafith Moallin led the Heat (3-15) with 23 points. Owen Keyes added 18 and Imoudu Ibrahim 12.

The Wesmen will host the Mount Royal Cougars for a pair of games Friday and Saturday night, the latter of which will have fifth-years Will Sesay, Billy Yaworsky and Adam Benrabah honoured as part of Senior Night.
