WVB | Wesmen cruise for second straight win over Bobcats

The Winnipeg Wesmen will go into the holiday break feeling pretty jolly after another decisive win Saturday night.

Emma Parker had 10 kills and the Wesmen women's volleyball team held the Brandon Bobcats to .019 attacking in breezing to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-22) Canada West conference win at the Duckworth Centre.

In securing the sweep of the Bobcats, the Wesmen held Brandon to two of its three least-efficient attacking nights this season.

Haille Bujan had four kills and hit .444 with six digs. Ashleigh Laube and Taylor Cangemi both had 10 digs.

Keely Anderson and Avery Burgar both had five kills to lead the Bobcats (0-12), and Anderson added match-highs with four aces and 14 digs.

Four Bobcats hit in negatives, and BU attacked at -.029 in a first set that was largely side-out volleyball until the Wesmen flipped things in their favour at 17-16 scoring eight of the next 11 points to win the set.

Winnipeg improved to 8-4 on the season and moved into a tie for fourth place in the Canada West as the Wesmen break until January.

The record marks the best first-half start for the program since the Wesmen started the 2011-12 season 10-2.
