Kyanna Giles has been named the Canada West women's basketball player of the week after doing something no one in program history has done before.
Giles became the first Wesmen player to score at least 40 points and grab at least 10 rebounds as the Wesmen defeated the Brandon Bobcats 84-62 Saturday night in Brandon.
Giles finished the night with 43 points, a career-high for a conference game, and had 13 rebounds as the Wesmen improved to 7-1.Â
Giles matched the Wesmen Canada West-era record for points in a game first set by Antoinette Miller in 2017.Â
Earlier this season, the fifth-year guard scored 44 points in a non-conference win over Manitoba.Â
She is currently leading the conference, and is second in the country, in points per game (23.1) and is fourth in Canada West and 10th in U Sports in rebounds per game (9.9).
