Box Score BRANDON — Another comeback in the Wheat City fell short Thursday for the Winnipeg Wesmen.
For the second time in less than a month, the Wesmen women's volleyball team fell behind two sets on the road in Brandon and battled back to force a fifth only to ultimately drop a 3-2 (25-15, 26-24, 16-25, 10-25, 15-11) Canada West conference decision.
The result left the Wesmen at 6-7 while Brandon improved to 7-6 and into second place in the East Division, with the return match Saturday at the Duckworth Centre (6:45 p.m.).
The Wesmen suffered a similar fate when they fell behind two sets on Jan. 29 only to fight back to force a fifth and fall 17-15.
Emma Parker had her first career 20-20 night, posting a career-high 21 kills with 21 digs while hitting a season-high .386 for the match. Parker, who had her sixth straight match with double-digit digs, also added four total blocks and two assists.
It was the third time this season Parker recorded at least 20 digs and the fifth time in her career.
Ashleigh Laube had a career-high 22 kills and 16 digs with two aces for the Bobcats, who hit .244 for the match.
It was Laube's fifth straight match with double-digit digs.
Selva Planincic added eight kills with 11 digs and Taylor Cangemi had 16 digs, the eighth time in nine matches she's been in double digits for digs.
Freshman Keely Anderson had nine aces for Brandon, the second-highest total in the Canada West in the past 13 years. Anderson also had 11 kills and 13 digs.
Rayvn Wiebe added 18 kills and 19 digs for the Bobcats, who hit .130 as a team.
The two teams will meet again Saturday for Senior Night at the Duckworth Centre.
