LANGLEY, B.C. — The Winnipeg Wesmen are needing to stop a streak, but the Trinity Western Spartans aren't exactly slump busters.
Nigel Nielsen had 10 kills to lead the Wesmen men's volleyball team, but the fourth-ranked Spartans handed the Wesmen their seventh straight loss in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-19) Canada West conference decision Friday night.
The Wesmen are on the outside looking in right at the top-eight playoff picture, falling to 6-11 on the season and into 10th place.
The Wesmen hit .269 in the first set, but made 11 errors on 43 swings the rest of the way. They finished the match attacking at a rate of .159.
Liam Kristjanson had a team-high five digs.
The Spartans put up 12 aces on the night, with six coming from Anselm Rein and five from Mathias Elser, who also had 11 kills. Henry Rempel had a match-high 13 kills for TWU (14-5). Jesse Elser added a match-high nine digs.
