EDMONTON — The Winnipeg Wesmen will be thankful the most grueling stretch of their schedule is now over.
The Wesmen women's volleyball team was held to .033 attacking as it lost its seventh straight match Saturday, dropping a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-14) Canada West conference decision to the No. 6-ranked Alberta Pandas.
The Wesmen completed a stretch of three straight match weekend against the top three teams in the Canada West — Trinity Western, UBC and Alberta — all of which are ranked in the national top 10.
Now Winnipeg (1-7) will look to get back in the win column when it hosts 0-8 Brandon for a pair of matches at the Duckworth Centre, Nov. 24-25.
On Saturday,
Selva Planincic,
Brooke Duncalfe, and
Christine Kolbuck each had eight kills, with Planincic adding a match-high 10 digs.
The Wesmen, however, were never able to get much momentum against a Pandas team that improved to 7-1 with its third straight win. Winnipeg hit .031 in the first set, with 11 errors, .071 in the second, and .000 in the third.
In its seven wins this season, Alberta has not dropped a set.
Lauryn Tremblay led a spread-out Alberta attack with seven kills and .235 attacking. Allie Moore added six on nine swings with no errors, Ronnie Dickson had six on 10 swings with no errors, and Abby Guezen also had six.
The Wesmen host the Bobcats starting Friday at 6 p.m. Tickest are available now at
