WVB | Planincic solid again as Wesmen shake off Bobcats

The Brandon Bobcats did their best to be a pest, but the Winnipeg Wesmen found away to shrug them off in the end.

The Bobcats earned just their second set win of the season, but the Wesmen women's volleyball team rallied to post a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-11, 25-19) Canada West conference victory at the Duckworth Centre.

It's the first time this season the Wesmen (3-7) posted back-to-back victories and they once again took advantage of Selva Planincic's attacking to get it done.

The fourth-year right side, who hit .680 on 25 swings on Friday, put down another 15 on 33 swings to hit .303 for the night. She added 11 digs, three block assists and three aces.

And while Planincic was error-free on Friday, it was teammate Christine Kolbuck who pulled the feat the next night. The third-year middle had 15 kills with no errors on 24 swings to hit .625, all career-highs.

The Wesmen back row was also stout, with Brooke Duncalfe recording a match- and career-high 19 digs. Anaka Switzer, who got her first career conference start at libero, notched a career-high 15 digs.

The Wesmen hit .197 for the match, with 51 kills on 147 attacks.

Brandon (0-10) hit .101 and was led by Avery Burgar's 12 kills and 13 digs.
