SASKATOON — The Winnipeg Wesmen pursuit for points in three straight matches was stopped on Sunday.
Marie Kilcher scored three goals and the host Saskatchewan Huskies dropped the Wesmen women's soccer team 5-0 in a Canada West conference match.
Kilcher's hat trick was the first for the Huskies since 2013 and all three goals came after halftime as Saskatchewan (3-1-0) broke open a 2-0 match in the final 45.
Fourth-year keeper
Taryn Raabe, who until last season had made 27 straight starts in the Wesmen goal, earned her first start of the season and made 12 saves in the loss.
The Wesmen (0-4-2) entered Saskatoon with draws in their previous two games.
The Huskies did not give up a goal on the weekend with back-to-back clean sheets, the first coming Saturday against Manitoba.
Winnipeg now returns home to host the UBC Thunderbirds (Saturday, 7 p.m.) and UNBC Timberwolves (Saturday, 7 p.m.)
