A Winnipeg Wesmen assistant coach has been tasked with leading the Manitoba women's volleyball team at next summer's Canada Games.
Megan Bradshaw, an assistant with the Wesmen women's volleyball team since 2019, was announced by Volleyball Manitoba as the head coach for the 2025 Canada Games in St. John's, Nfld.
In addition, Lindsey Habib, a former assistant on Larry McKay's Wesmen men's team, has been picked to lead the Manitoba men's team at the Games.
"I am incredibly honored to have been selected as the head coach for the Canada Games women's volleyball team," Bradshaw said. "I am so grateful for the support and the mentorship that I have received from coaches across Manitoba over the years. Their commitment to the sport of volleyball has not only impacted me personally, but it has elevated volleyball in our province exponentially.
Bradshaw was among the support staff for the gold-medal winning Manitoba team at the 2017 Games in Winnipeg. She has been a longtime club coach in the Cobras program and, in 2010, led the River East Kodiaks to the AAAA varsity girls provincial championship.
She was named Volleyball Manitoba's coach of the year in 2017.
"Manitoba has a reputation for being a highly competitive team at the Summer Games, and I look forward to continuing that tradition of excellence," she said. "I am excited to get started, and work in partnership with Volleyball Manitoba to prepare our women's team for the Games in St. John's in the summer of 2025.
Being a part of the Canada Games women's volleyball team is an extraordinary opportunity, and it is my goal to select our province's best athletes, to showcase their talents on this prestigious national stage."
Volleyball Manitoba said both Bradshaw and Habib will be begin their duties with the Games teams this June.
