Darian Picklyk is golden for the second straight year.
Picklyk, the Winnipeg Wesmen men's volleyball team's former libero, helped Canada to the top of the podium on Sunday as the national squad defeated the USA 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 26-28, 25-19) in the gold-medal match in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.Â
Picklyk had 12 digs in the championship match to help Canada, which had Wesmen interim head coach Chris Voth on the staff as an assistant.Â
The Canadians finished Group A play with a 4-0 record with wins over the US, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Chile that earned them a bye through to the semifinals, where they again defeated Puerto Rico to reach the final. Picklyk had five digs in the semifinal and averaged 7.5 digs per match over his four appearances.Â
Picklyk also won gold in 2023 when the Canadians beat Brazil in Guadalajara, Mexico.Â
