Wesmen Athletics is pleased to announce more than $4,600 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society during the inaugural Serve for the Cure campaign.
Â
The Serve for the Cure initiative was a season-long drive from the men's and women's Wesmen Volleyball programs to raise funds for cancer research. Supporters were able to make a donation based on how many aces the team of their choice accumulated over the course of the Canada West season.Â
Â
Supporters were also able to donate a lump sum in-person or via the Cancer Society's website.Â
Â
In the end, the teams were able to raise $4,615.50 that will go directly to the Society's efforts to fight cancer.Â
Â
"I'm proud of both teams for setting and reaching a fundraising goal this season," Wesmen Athletics director
Cara Isaak said. "The research and resources funded by the Canadian Cancer Society impacts many of our loved ones and I know our teams made a difference. It was exciting to watch them tally the aces during a memorable season."
