The Regina Cougars scored two goals in both the first and second halves Sunday and handed the Winnipeg Wesmen a 4-0 defeat in Canada West conference play.
The result was the second loss of the weekend for the Wesmen (0-4) who fell 9-0 to Saskatchewan on Saturday.
Lennox Lockhurst scored in the 18th and 33rd minutes to stake the home side to an early advantage. Jessica Chow added goals in the 69th and 90th minutes as Regina improved to 2-2 on the season with a split of its weekend doubleheader.
Camille Forbes faced 11 shots and made seven saves for the Wesmen, who mustered seven shots with four on target. Cassidy Fedoruk made four saves to earn the clean sheet.Â
Jazmyn Castro had two shots on goal to lead Winnipeg.
On Saturday in Saskatoon, Alyssa D'Agnone scored three consecutive goals in the second half as the Huskies set a program record for goals in a game. Marie Kilcher also had a hat trick,
Tia Lecox scored twice and Madison Mayert had the other for the Huskies, who are 3-0-1 on the season.
Taryn Raabe made her first start of the season and had 11 saves.Â
The Wesmen host Alberta and MacEwan for their home-opening weekend Saturday and Sunday at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
