SASKATOON — The Winnipeg Wesmen were the latest team to fall to the juggernaut of the Canada West.
The Saskatchewan Huskies moved one win away from finishing the conference season undefeated with an 87-39 victory over the Wesmen women's basketball team Friday night.
The Huskies improved to 19-0 and extended their overall win streak to 49 games as they look to join the 1971-72 squad as the only Saskatchewan team to finish conference play undefeated.
Jennifer Kallon and Jazmin Birch led Winnipeg (4-15) with eight points apiece. Kallon added four rebounds and three steals.
Gage Grassick scored a game-high 17 points, with six assists, five rebounds, and three steals to lead the Huskies. Murphy Wiebe scored 14 points with six rebounds and five assists and Tea DeMong chipped in 11 points.
The teams will meet again Saturday (5 p.m.) to wrap up Canada West play.
