Box Score

The Winnipeg Wesmen got in the win column in a big way Friday, taking down the Dakota College Lumberjacks 106-63 in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Duckworth Centre.

Don Dayrit exploded for 15 first-quarter points on 5-for-5 shooting from three off the bench and finished with a season-high 23 points to lead five Wesmen players in double figures.

Josh Gandier came off the bench to post career-highs with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Wesmen, who led 32-9 after a quarter and took a 55-24 lead into halftime.

Sean Tarver had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Joseph Medrano had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists, and freshman Riley Paul had the first double-digit game of his career, scoring 10 points off the bench. Will Sesay handed out a game-high 10 assists to go along with seven points and six rebounds.

The Wesmen hit on 17 of 41 shots from three and held the Jacks to 8-for-35 shooting from the perimeter.

Marquie Mosely had 26 and was the only Dakota player in double-digit scoring.

The Wesmen set the tone from the tip, starting the game on a 21-0 run and holding Dakota without a basket for the first 6:09 of the first period. Dayrit it back-to-back-to-back threes in the span of 2:08 to stretch Winnipeg's lead from 12 to 21.
