The Canada West conference has named Winnipeg Wesmen head coach
Mike Raimbault its 2025-26 men's basketball Coach of the Year, it was announced Thursday.
Raimbault, in his 16th season at the helm of the Wesmen, led his team to another stellar season as the Wesmen continued as one of the winningest programs in the conference.
It is the first Canada West coach of the year honour for Raimbault since he was appointed head coach in 2010.
The Wesmen posted their second straight 16-win season in Canada West play and their second straight 24-win season overall, en route to the No. 1 seed in the conference playoffs.
The Wesmen were among the tops in the country in a variety of categories under Raimbault's tutelage, ranking second in the nation in assists per game, fifth in field goal percentage and eighth in net efficiency.
Under Raimbault, the Wesmen's 62 conference wins over the past four seasons ranks second in the Canada West.
The Wesmen, who were defeated by UBC in overtime of the conference semifinal, are still holding out hope for an at-large berth into the national championship tournament next week in Calgary. That decision will be made late Saturday or early Sunday morning.
