Picklyk earns two awards, bronze medal
Darian Picklyk, a former Wesmen men's volleyball player, shone for the Canadian Extended A team at the NORCECA Pan-American Cup last week, capping the tournament with a bronze-medal win and two of the tournament's top awards.
Picklyk, who had 12 digs in Canada's four-set win over Mexico on Sunday, was named the tournament's top libero and top digger after he amassed 82 digs — averaging 3.73 digs per set — over six matches, including a tournament-high 20 in a win over the USA last Thursday.
Picklyk will remain with the national team for a couple of more weeks as the Canadians head to Puerto Rico for the NORCECA Final Six Aug. 21-30. He will then head back to Europe to continue his pro season in The Netherlands.
