Box Score LANGLEY, B.C. — Nigel Nielsen posted a career-high for kills, but the Trinity Western Spartans managed a straight-sets victory Saturday night.
Nielsen, a sophomore left side, had 11 kills and 13 points to lead the Wesmen men's volleyball team in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) defeat at the hands of the Trinity Western Spartans.
Nielsen, whose previous career-high was 10 last season, notched double-digit kills for the first time this season and added a solo block and two block assists.
Winnipeg, which hit in the negatives in a loss Friday, improved to .236 on Saturday.
Daniel Thiessen added eight kills and hit .333, while Keegan Teetaert had three kills on five swings for a team-high .600. He also added three block assists.
Darian Picklyk posted a match-high nine digs.
The Wesmen fell to 1-3 on the season heading into a bye week.
Eric Loeppky topped the Spartans (3-1) with 10 kills and five digs.
The Spartans hit .342 for the night, including .435 in the first set.
