REGINA — There's no good time to go through injury woes, but the Winnipeg Wesmen women's basketball team has found one of the worst times.

Playing their third straight game without injured Faith Hezekiah, the Wesmen dropped a 92-46 Canada West conference decision on the road to the Regina Cougars Friday night.

The Wesmen, who were without Hezekiah, Anna Kernaghan and Mikayla Funk last week at Alberta, played Friday without Srishti Suren, the freshman forward.

Funk and Kernaghan returned to the lineup Friday, but the Wesmen couldn't find enough offence against a Regina team that improved to 2-3 with its second win in three games. Winnipeg dropped to 2-3 with its third straight loss. 

Robyn Boulanger had 12 points to lead the Wesmen, who got eight points from freshman guard Kyana Wonnacott, who was making her first career start. 

Faith Reid had 20 points to lead six Cougars in double figures. Madeleine Tell added 15 points while Michaela Kleisinger, Macaela Crone and Emily Dewey chipped in 12 and Alexi Rowden 10.

The two teams meet again Saturday.
