For a game they were expected to win, the Winnipeg Wesmen found a new way to assert their dominance.
Three players recorded double-doubles and the Wesmen women's basketball team obliterated the Brandon Bobcats 101-46 in a Canada West conference game Saturday night in Brandon.
Faith Hezekiah had a game-high 20 points to lead five Wesmen players in double figures and added 11 rebounds. Kyanna Giles had 19 points and tied Keylyn Filewich with a game-high 12 rebounds. Filewich scored 12 points.
Mik Funk came off the bench with 13 points and five rebounds, and Anna Kernaghan had her second straight game in double figures with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals.
The Wesmen improved to 6-0 heading into a two-week layoff before playing the Bobcats in another home-and-home series Dec. 2 and 4.
Adrianna Proulx's 16 points led the Bobcats, who shot 24 per cent from the field. Bailey Johnson scored 11 points with seven rebounds off the bench.
The Wesmen shot 49.3 per cent from the field but were a mere 2-for-14 from three.
Winnipeg outrebounded the Bobcats 64-40.
