One week down, one major award in the books for
Isaiah Olfert.
Olfert, a fifth-year left side on the Winnipeg Wesmen, was named the Canada West conference player of the week for men's volleyball Tuesday after helping the Wesmen score an impressive weekend sweep of the UBC Thunderbirds.Â
The Wesmen scored two five-set victories against the defending U Sports bronze medallists, including a reverse sweep on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday, the Dakota Collegiate product led the way with 15 kills and added three digs and two block assists.
On Sunday, he was even better, knocking down 20 kills with a .486 attacking with nine digs, an ace and a solo block.Â
The Wesmen have won 10 straight matches overall to start the season, in addition to their conference season-opening doubleheader sweep.
They will take on the Calgary Dinos Friday and Saturday at the Duckworth Centre with first serves slated for 6 p.m.
