Box Score ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Another dominant effort led the Winnipeg Wesmen to a weekend sweep.
The Wesmen men's volleyball team hit .346 and scored its second straight sweep, defeating the Fraser Valley Cascades 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-18) in Canada West conference action Saturday night at the UFV Athletics Centre.
Winnipeg improved to 2-0 while the Cascades dropped their fourth straight to start the season.
Jaxon Rose had a match-high 12 kills and
Paxton Koop was nearly perfect with nine kills on 10 swings and no errors as the Wesmen finished their first weekend of conference play with a perfect six sets.
Winnipeg hit .467 in the first set, .214 in the second and .500 in the third while holding UFV to .102 attacking, the third time this season the Cascades have hit under .150.
Rose added two aces and three digs, finishing the weekend with 22 kills and better than .300 attacking in two wins.

Carson Brennan had a match-high 12 digs.
The Wesmen turned the first set with a five-point run that flipped a 12-11 lead into a 17-11 advantage. In Set 2, another five-point run broke an 11-11 tie and, after Fraser Valley managed to battle back to 20-19 down, the Wesmen won three straight to take control again.
Roan McCarthy had nine kills to lead the Cascades, but was held to -.026 attacking with 10 errors on 39 swings.
The Wesmen move on to their home-openers Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 when they welcome the Trinity Western Spartans to the Duckworth Centre.
